Garage Door Replacement Tallahassee, FL
Tallahassee Garage Door Repair is a free homeowner referral service, not a garage door company. Independent providers perform the work.
A replacement means comparing the existing residential door system with a proposed new one. Tell a provider what has changed and ask it to inspect before deciding whether replacement is needed.

When should you ask about replacement instead of repair?
Describe the age and visible condition of the door if known, damaged panels, repeated trouble, or a new opening requirement. These details begin a conversation, not a diagnosis. An independent provider can explain whether a repair inquiry or a replacement proposal better fits the actual door. Do not try to lift a stuck door or remove any tensioned hardware to find out.
What should a replacement proposal specify?
Ask which door and compatible track and hardware the provider proposes, who supplies them, whether the opener can remain, and who removes the old door. Ask for the scope, product identification, and manufacturer or provider warranty in writing. The track and sections form a system; do not assume the old track will fit a new door. A provider should assess the opening and any parts to be retained.
Does a Tallahassee replacement need a permit?
Ask the contractor and the permitting authority for the address. The City of Tallahassee says replacing a door is considered structural work that requires a permit. Its permit pages do not mention garage doors separately, so ask the city and the contractor whether this applies to your garage door. An address outside city limits or an opener-only change may follow a different process. Ask who will apply for any required permit and present the product documentation before work begins.
How do you choose an independent provider?
Request its business name, applicable license and insurance, and a description of what its technicians will perform. Verify the license information it gives you through the Florida public license search; this website has not vetted an individual contractor. An inquiry here does not reserve a provider or confirm service at your address.
